Personal dream
The dream about the Centre for Education and Personal Development in Nature exists since the idea of the foundation of CSRE was born. They are mutually connected, complement each other and make a whole, as jing and jang.
The implementation of the idea started in 2010, and it has developed since through several phases: from the 1200m² of intended working space, we reached to for us the ideal 56m² in which we now exist and work; from variety of programs and activities we planned to offer, to the simple but essential support to your ideas and being; from the „ideal“ business plans to eye opening insights about what does living in sync with the nature and oneself.
From those life insights, through the experience of the creator of this concept Dragana Tomić Pilipović, the Centre developed to its current form as the Rural HUB, located in the area of the village Vrmdža.
The dreams and plans about this Centre won the first prize in the international competition for the most innovative idea from Serbia in the domain of social entrepreneurship in the framework “Social Entrepreneurship tour 2010“, in patronage of professor Muhammad Yunus, a Nobel Peace Laureate and and the originator of the idea of social entrepreneurship.
Vision
Our vision is that Rural HUB is a community of creative individuals and innovative organizations that want to explore, build and connect its urban and rural knowledge in a sustainable way.
It’s a place of creation, development and support, where:
- One can seek the best way for realization of ideas, projects and potential,
- Creating a network of ideas, people and resources is happening
- One can get mentor support for life and business questions
- Events and project activities are organized,
- Staying in touch with nature and oneself is possible
The Rural HUB encourages and supports the development of the local community by using its products and services to preserve the nature, tradition and households.

You can take a walk here arm in arm with nature. You can experience life and work in nature. Wander the fields and drink fresh spring water. Dig in the garden and bake your own bread. Rural HUB
The Rural HUB is a co-working space where innovative, socially responsible individuals and organization can work, meet, learn and connect. A place of creation, development and support. A place where your ideas bloom!
The Rural HUB provides the space and time for work through co-working and the development of ideas, individuals and teams, but does more than that. Rural HUB also puts efforts in development of its local community by connecting the locals, using their products and services (food, accommodation, artistry and others) and help their improvement, to encourage small, family businesses and stop the emigration from the countryside, especially the youth drain.
Location
The Rural HUB is located in a village named Vrmdža, situated 12 km from the town Sokobanja and it is known to be the most beautiful village of the Sokobanja Valley. The village is located in the feet of the mountain Rtanj. It has about 160 houses and about 600 inhabitants, who are mostly in agriculture. It is in the height of 500 meters above sea level and it is abundant in greenery, water, beautiful landscapes, extraordinarily clean air and many other beauties. Latin-grad, a roman fort that served for protection of the emperor’s road to East, takes a dominant place in the village centre. The fort was taken down by the sultan Musa, the son of sultan Bayazid.
The easiest road to Vrmdža is through the highway Belgrade – Nis. Take the exit for Aleksinac and then take the local road to Sokobanja and Vrmdža for 40 km. When you arrive in the village, you will find the Rural HUB on the old road for Vrmdža Lake.
Space
The Rural HUB possesses a space of 56m², which, except for the large space for work, learn and development, also has a separate office, a tea kitchen, bathroom and a covered terrace of 30m².
Apart from the workplace, we also have the acre-wide land framed between the old roman road on one side and the river on the other. The nature offers you the possibility to separate and to concentrate on your work and yourself.
Services
The Rural HUB offers:
- Working space for individuals and teams in a natural environment in Vrmdža, near Rtanj mountain and the town of Sokobanja.
- Mentor support to individuals and teams, development of specific knowledge and expertise.
- A space for formal or informal meetings, training courses, workshops and practice.
- Support for socially responsible events and project activities of interest for the community.
The Rural HUB offers accommodation, food and cultural – sightseeing activities in collaboration with the local community of Vrmdža village.
